Anthony Cooley - Behind the Branches (out now on sombre soniks)

https://sombresoniks.bandcamp.com/album/behind-the-branches?fbclid=IwAR3nDtvA0OkHDmoiTo-7X9upD-1b4sNZrqEL7aV3lKbIK-AHGFqZOy02rS4

recorded in 2017 at ant’s nest studio in the outskirts of Melbourne victoria. A big warehouse style space. This resulted In around 10 hours of reed organ/ms-20 drones which were wittled down over the next 8 months into a single 60 minute piece.

On the release you will hear me playing around with the phasing of 2 microphones that help to create unique sounds and movements around the reed organ.

You’ll also hear the sound of a ms-20 synthesiser, which was played through a guitar amp that was wheeled around a microphone and also different points in the room.

new TARAB release : HOUSEKEEPING : sonicrubbish.com

I am quietly pleased to announce the release of my new TARB cd:  HOUSEKEEPING.

HOUSEKEEPING was originally conceived as a project to finally put to use some of this amassed junk, and then to discard it all once again. It first took shape as an installation work for 8-channel audio, found objects, speakers, transducers, desk, chair and room; presented at Blindside, Melbourne, August 2017.

Since then it has slowly shifted itself into this CD. However rather than a documentation of an installation, this iteration has been arranged from the debris collected during the process of making one. Sound was gathered together from various raw audio materials; object manipulation; rehearsals, studio tests and failures; recordings of both installation and de-installation; the final composition files ; recordings of the installation in-situ; the empty gallery space; the Nicholas Building (the home of Blindside); a performance made with Clinton Green enacted to close the installation. All collected materials were then cut up, tumbled around and de-arranged into the current form it finds itself in here.

This is the first release in a new self releasing venture, which depending on how this one works out...may lead to a slow but hopefully stead trickle of works from me ... and who knows what else ... ?? It is a terrible time of year to visit the post office ... so I have posted it as a pre-order for now ... but if you would like a copy I should be able to start sending them out very soon!

Available via https://sonicrubbish.bandcamp.com/releases ... or if you prefer to bypass BC altogether ... shamefile will hopefully soon have some copies in stock (alongside other TARAB works) or send me a message tarab AT sonicrubbish DOT com.

New Exquisite Corpse Music from Melbourne Surrealist Collective

Little Songs of the Mutilated, a surrealist music collective headed by multi-instrumentalist Justin Ashworth (Glasfrosch, Kungfuepilepsy, etc), creates unpredictable dream-like soundscapes using the old Surrealist Exquisite Corpse technique: six players create 40 seconds of sound, then pass the last 10 seconds on to the next player, who then responds to that 10 seconds with 40 seconds of their own, and so on, until all six players have had a turn on all six pieces.

Usually curated by Ashworth, recently the project has experimented with guest curators.  The most recent effort, "They Were Lifelessly Melding In A Pool Painted with Little Songs of the Mutilated", was curated by none other than the reclusive aging audiomancer known as A Demon Sheen (The Horn, Gnaumgn, Intrinsic Light, Stinky Picnic, Undead Magic User, Grist, Haark, Haraam, etc), and features an all-star cast of magickal and non-magickal practitioners of sonic deviation:

Sage Pbbbt (Digital Penetration, solo, etc)
Gelareh Pour (Mnmn, Garden, Zöj, solo, etc)
David Prescott-Steed (Realms, Gnaumgn, Le Vide, solo, etc)
A Demon Sheen (as above)

From field recordings to kamancheh to exended vocal techniques to synth to the amplified rubbing of hand-skin, this release uses the Third Mind of the cut-up technique to dictate a bewildering tale from beyond the Realm of the Conscious, utilising the Surrealist's techniques to access unrefined Surreality itself.   Available for streaming, or purchase (we recommend purchase and download, because then these ritualised pieces of telesonic chronoplasty can be further randomised into larger-scale shuffle-plays, increasing and enhancing the 'chance' elements therein, a feature more likely to align one's own Path with the desires of the Earth Coincidence Control Office, and benefit one's Bobward Slide along the Luck Plane).

STREAM OR PURCHASE HERE.
