New on Shame File Mailorder - classic experimental releases from the 1990s-2000s now available

Jamie Fielding “Extinkt” LP/CD – "When Australian piano player Jamie Fielding died in 1993 in a train accident in Sydney, he was 32 and virtually unknown. Although no [major] projects were released under his name during his lifetime... it now seems evident that Fielding will become a legendary, semi-mythic figure, for in imaginative scope, virtuoso technique and joyful audacity, the only musician to compare him with is the late Russian Sergey Kuryokhin." - David Lewis, Coda.
This posthumous release also features a who’s who of Australian 1980s experimental/improv, including Jon Evans, Michael Sheridan and John Murphy. LP and CD both come in a limited edition of 500 numbered copies, featuring Fielding’s drawings.

Bucketrider back catalogue CD releases "Guignol's Band", "Le Baphomet" "L'evenements", "The Adoration of the Lamb", from 1990/2000s Melbourne freejazznoise improv steam train, featuring luminaries including Sean Baxter, Dave Brown, Timothy O'Dwyer and more.

Candlesnuffer - Back catalogue items of Melbourne string wrangler and sound artist, Dave Brown. Including his Candlesnuffer project, and collaborations with the likes of Sean Baxter, KK Null/Terminal HZ, Embers, and Philip Samartzis.

All available now from http://ShameFileMusic.com

AVANT PIANO MIDI AUDIO ILLUSIONS by BUTTRESS O'KNEEL

DADAMIDIPOP

It's a godawful mess of misplayed piano garbage. Either that, or it's brilliant conceptual sound art! You decide!

When Buttress discovered that certain online mp3-to-midi converters create the vocal part out of weird atonal harmonics, turning pop into avant-garde at the touch of a button, of course her path was clear - shove a whole buncha pop into it and release it all as Compop 24.0: DadaMidiPop. I mean, you would've done the same, right? Of course, B'O'K being B'O'K, she also ran the conversion on a collection of acapellas too, which all happened to be Metallica acapellas. There's three on this release. James Hetfield's heyheys and yeahs are transformed into abstract pianos before our very ears, and it's awesome. Or terrible! Like I said earlier, you be the judge.

After playing with these programs for a while, Buttress also discovered that the midi-to-mp3 re-converter could replay the midi files at variable tempos, so the very last cut on this album is Radiohead's haunting Pyramid Song, converted into avant-harmonic-piano-midi, then re-converted at half-speed. Rather than stetching the piece, as a tool like Paul's Stretch would have done, this time-stretch is just the notes played slower, rather than the sounds elongated. Which is just amazing.

Or a fucking crock of pretentious swill. It totally depends on you.
